I read about people bringing wine to restaurants, paying a corkage (I hate that word!) fee, and customarily offering the sommelier a glass of the wine.
My question - is that last part legal? I believe the law in Maryland is that bartenders are forbidden from having any alcohol while working, so would that apply to all restaurant workers? I'm guessing that each state establishes their own laws in this area, so does anyone definitively know what it is in their state?
