Solo for Restaurant Week

I'm a mid-twenties gal who is happily single but missing the scrumptious dining experiences that go along with dating. I'm comfortable eating solo at a taqueria or dim sum hall, but I rarely can justify the cost and pomp of fine dining when I'm all by my lonesome. I know that many on this board will poo-poo Restaurant Week as being the time when restaurants will trot out mediocre, dumbed-down food for the unwashed masses, but I'm going to look at it as an opportunity for me to have a delicious meal without waiting around for a handsome prince to sweep me off my feet. I'm looking for a place where I can treat myself to a nice meal but not be made to feel uncomfortable or rushed because I'm by myself. Eating at the bar would be fine. I'm a teacher on summer vacation, so I have all the time in the world for either lunch or dinner anywhere in Manhattan that's close enough to a subway that I can arrive without being drenched in sweat.

Thanks in advance for any help!
