I will be spending about 4-5 days on my own in Sicily before my partner meets me in Palermo (and we will spend time in both Palermo and Trapani with day trips to the surrounding areas).
I am thinking of basing myself in Modica and seeing modica and maybe some of the surrounding areas (by public transport) before I catch the bus to Palermo.

I am not that fond of traveling on my own and so would like to do some activities during my time where I could be with other people. I would also like to experience local life, especially related to food.

Does anyone know of any good (but not too expensive) food-related or other everyday-life related (i.e. less of the typical sightseeing like churches, monuments, ruins etc.) activities in and around Modica and the Ragusa province I could access by public transport? For example we are taking a trip from a small town near cefalu to see a shephard make ricotta and tasting, then visiting a local wine cellar and doing a tasting and long lunch in the town. Also interested in lunches at agriturismi (where it will be a shared meal with other people) but again it needs to be accessible by public transport or a cheap taxi (i.e. close to town)

Or alternatively, are there other places in Sicily you would recommend that would be better to spend my solo time in? Noting that I will be arriving from London and then leaving to go to Palermo.

Grazie mille :)
