Solo female diner Tokyo/Kyoto

mungoberry2000 | Aug 28, 201603:50 PM

I will be flying solo to Tokyo and Kyoto for the first time late October and very excited!
I will be staying near Tokyo Station/Ginza area and Kyoto downtown area but using public transportation to see the more popular areas ( Asakusa, Shinjuku, Shibuya/Ometasando in particular).
I don’t speak any Japanese and curious how awkward to eat out as a solo female diner?
This might be too broad but any suggestions for casual, quiet sit down places more comfortable for women? I’d like to do one sushi splurge but am open to any type of restaurant –even cafes, coffee shops, patisseries.
Thank you so much for any advice!
