This is a very silly (think "if I win the lottery...") question, but is a solid silver or silver lined copper skillet the ultimate skillet? So my understanding is that silver and copper cookware would heat up fast and be more responsive than cast iron or stainless steel. The problem is copper was traditionally lined with tin, and tin melts at a much lower temperature and cannot withstand high heat and is soft enough to scrape with a metal spoon. Lining copper with stainless steel makes it more durable but stainless steel is a poorer conductor.
In the theoretical context that money is not an issue, would a solid silver copper skillet solve this because you can heat up solid silver and sear meat on it, or would you just end up with problems with tarnishing and scraping the silver?
Has anyone here actually purchased a solid silver or silver lined copper skillet?
