Sofra, Deep Ellum & Gran Gusto

I had a great foodie weekend. I started Friday at lunch at Sofra, trying the delicious earthquake cookie (molton chocolate goodness), the Ethopian shortbread cookie, the delicious carrot kibbe (similar to the one at oleana), a flatbread with orange and other stuff (can't remember, but it was amazing...) and a hummus platter, with the real winner being the smoky eggplant and the to die for beet tzaziki.....

We ventured over to Deep Ellum at night, sampling CBC's excellent hefeweizen. My DC had a cobb salad - healthy portion... and I tore into a buttery fruita del mar (calamari and linguini.)

Last night, we tried Gran Gusto for the first time. One, the service was amazing. We had the kindest, sweetest waiter. We shared a beef carpaccio that was decadent, and had an almost as good salmon carpaccio. We tried the arugala pizza, which IMHO hands down was the best pizza I've had in this city!

And after this, now I'm ready for salad for a day!
