Not so Sneaky Teaky

pate man | Oct 10, 200501:49 PM

had snacks at the new Sneaky Teaky on folsom in soma lastnight. the place was nearly empty at 8pm but we spotted michael bauer dining with his companion...the food was, in one word: dull. we had the pupu platter, which was a great idea in concept, but execution was another. it was a retro 3 tier platter with fried sweet potato on the bottom plate, frozen, over breaded calamari "rings" on the 2nd tier and very good meatballs on skewers and beef jerkey on the top tier. $12.95. good price but besides the meatballs it was mediocre at best. the cocktail menu looked great, but the drinks were too sweet and i'll bet not really properly made. the bartender didnt taste anything she made! they did a great remodel, but does not look like a tiki bar, imo. i seriously dont think this doomed location will make it, but who knows. maybe as a bar, and maybe if they re-tool the drink menu. great glass ware and beautiful flatware...they need a consultant to smooth things over.
