Thanks to all who responded to my earlier post asking about where to go for an early dinner before a concert at the Jones Beach Theatre this past Saturday night. I got lots of responses & we ended up going to Snaps. I've read many reviews of it on Chowhound & this was our first time there. It's a small, relaxed atmosphere, very friendly place. Since we were on a time limit, while we wanted to try 2 of their tasting menus, we didn't: a tasting menu (mixed assortment of stuff from their menu) and their pasta tasting menu. FYI, they do not require that an entire table order the same tasting menu or can be ordered individually. So here's what we had: we shared a short rib quesadilla (different than what we expected, lots of meat, very little cheese, more shaped like a squat burrito, with a watercress salad on the side...we like it!), I had a grilled shrimp salad with an appetizer size of 3 vegetable/goat cheese ravioli. Very good. My partner ordered from their prix fix menu, had lobster bisque or soup (was ok, not thick cream so maybe it was "soup" not "bisque" on the menu), salmon, with a rice cake, veggies and sour apple sorbet for dessert. Service was good, everyone who works there is friendly, it's a small place, definitely worth a return visit.
