Stari Grad - on Dundas West, near Kipling - you have to try their "caragiorgio" ($3.99) which is Serbian for "George's Schnitzel". It's a pogo-shaped creation containing meat stuffed with a light creamy white cheese. Their burek is decent. Stari Grad is a grocery store/deli with take-out only.

California Sandwiches - tried the veal sandwich at two different locations (Little Italy, and Queensway near 427) and was impressed by the enormous size, great taste and crispy texture of the fried veal. Watch out for the hot peppers! It was unbearably hot even though I ordered "medium" at the Little Italy location.

Dessert Lady - on Cumberland St. in Yorkville - is a new place which makes its own ice creams, chocolates and cookies. Sampled lots of cookies and was impressed. The white nectarine ice cream was jammy and delicious, and the cantaloupe coconut sorbet was perfect ($2.75 for one scoop). Earl grey was the most "unique" truffle flavour and was good($1.25).

What A Bagel - the location on Bayview, north of Steeles in the Longos plaza - has wonderful fresh falafel (half pita, which is very filling, is an astonishing $2.68 incl. tax and includes choice of white or whole wheat pita, and a huge variety of unlimited toppings, such as turnip, baba ghanoush, red cabbage, hummous, etc.) but their must-try product is their incredible, flaky, kept-warm pastries containing cheese, cheese and spinach, or potatoes ($2.50). I'm addicted to the cheese and spinach ones!
