Had lunch with Mrs.Klaus at Oceana ( 55 East 54th
Street ) today and was treated to a seafood orgy for
the palate. Lobster ravioli in a light tomato broth,
smoked trout with horseradish cream & beet salad as
appetizers and Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes and Seafood Gumbo
as entrees. Rick Moonen, formerly the chef at The Water
Club, really has it goin' here. The gumbo had Mussels,
Clams, 2 large juicy Shrimp, Scallops, Andouille
Sausage and a piece of Lobster. The crab cakes were
mostly flavor-packed crab, little cake. The service was
excellent and the jumbo size cocktails were worth the 7
buck tariff. This is fine dining that is totally
enjoyable.
