Is there any place in Manhattan - or in some other borough accessible by subway - were I can buy a pound or so of smoky smoked sausage? I'd get them mail-order from Edwards, but I really don't want 10 pounds, wonderful though they are. I'm not looking for kielbassy (e.g., from Kurowycky) or Hungarian sausage (e.g., from the Hungarian Meat Market) or German ones (e.g. from the super wurst place in Grand Central)...I'm looking for a Texas-type sausage that really smells of the smoke pit. (Cause I feel the need to make a sausage-cheese strata and pig out on it.) Any suggestions?
