another one of my fav spots just went non-smoking! why, in the counterculture of the u.s., the east village of new york city--where i can freely buy a bag of coke, a hit of x and a 'date' for the hour right outside the door, can i not enjoy a cig between starter & main course?
i'll say this, in 6 months, i probably won't be going to this establishement (as opposed to more than weekly for the last year.) when i go out w/friends--get a drink after work that evolves into dinner/movie, not smoking is not enjoyable.
i'm not a 'smoking a@@hole'. i know smoking kills. many people are bothered by it, which is why i do not smoke in nonsmoking restaraunts. if somebody asks me to stop (even in a smoking establishment) i do. even when their rude (many of them are. . .) hell, i even listen politely while they go on and on about how i should quit. i don't bitch about propping up our economy/paying for everybody's health coverage/witch exponentially increasing taxes. but why do non-smokers stand silently by while our governments (federal/state/city) all gang up on those who do?! Do we instill such disgust in people?
all i'd like to do is be able to enjoy the meal the way it was most likely intended to be enjoyed. (how many italian/french restaurants in france/italy are non-smoking?)
