Smoked sugar, help

I just received a Big Green Egg as a 30th bday present and want to try out smoking. For the past several months I have had this idea of smoking sugar, but have yet to find any resources on the topic. Could anyone help? Is there a way to cool smoke? I think it would also be interesting to soak the wood in bourbon before the smoke. Is any of this possible?
