I am cooking a smoked country ham that I was given as a gift. The directions say to set the oven to 500, put the ham in and leave it 15 mins then turn the oven off, leave the ham in 3 hours, turn the oven back on to 500 for 15 mins, then turn it off and leave the ham for 6-7 hours. I left it in for 15 minutes the 1st time, forgot to turn the oven off and remembered 1 hr later. The directions say that the ham should not be heated at 500 for more than 30 mins altogether, mine has been cooked that hot for 1 hr 15 mins. It's still in the oven with the oven off. Any suggestions how to rescue my ham?
