My family is from Ukraine and my mother always rapsodized about the pork products "back home".

She especially loved what she refers to as bacon, but not smoked. As I remember it, it appeared to be a well salted piece of barely pink fat with much less meat marbeling than american bacon, skin attached.

I had hoped to find her some for the thanksgiving festivities. I'm in New York, but am willing to travel or mail order.

I haven't had much luck with the local butchers, Greenpoint or the East Village. But maybe its not even called bacon, and semantics are thwarting my hunt.
