Two Small Farms Box

Meredith | Jun 9, 200506:08 PM

This subject keeps coming up lately so I thought I would post about my very first CSA box ever.
This was much easier to orchestrate than I would have thought, the pickup was on my way home from work, I just swooped in, threw my produce into a bag, checked my name off the list and was back on the road in a matter of minutes.

My produce was beautiful, though I might actually have more basil than anyone could actually use. I will test that tomorrow when I make a big batch of pesto for a dinner party. It looks like three of the bunches I buy at my produce store, so roughly 5 bunches of what you would get at a grocery store.

In additon to my bouquet of basil, there were some delicious summer squash, some kale, beets, carrots, strawberries, purple baby onions, bok choy and sugar peas.

I always talked myself out of signing up for the box becuase I work near a farmers market and thought I could run over there and actually take my pick from what was available. But sometimes (most times) things would come up during work on Wednesdays or I would wind up with the same 4 vegetables making the same things. The randomness and set assortment of the box had me scrambling last night to put together a weeks worth of vegetable centered meals, but I really liked the process. I will definitely be gettin more variety in the process and since I have to use them all before the next batch comes on Wed, I think I will be eating more vegetables than usual.

After one day with my Two Small Farms box, I am very pleased, will let you guys know if that should change.
