slow cooker braised short ribs??

foodiex2 | Oct 10, 200508:21 AM     6

I am having company next week and want to make braised short ribs which is my friends favorite fall meal. The kicker is that it a very busy work week for me so was wondering if anyone has a tried and true recipe for doing them in a slow cooker? Ideally I would like to brown the meat and saute the onions/garlic etc the night before and then throw everything into the slow cooker in the AM so when I get home from work all that would be left to do would be to make the potatoes, toss the salad and open the wine. Am I being unrealistic and the idea is too good to be true?
