I was watching America's test kitchen last night.. and they were making a skillet baked ziti.
The recipe basically cooked the pasta in a simple tomato sauce, instead of boiling the pasta separately .
My question... can I omit the cream? Should I add something to make up for it? More tomatoes? More water?
The basic recipe (from what I remember)-
28 oz can crushed tomatoes
3 cups water
1/2 cup cream
1/2 cup parmesan
Topping- 1/2 cup (I think) mozarella cheese
