Situation Desperate in DeLand

Debbie Mason | Sep 12, 200503:10 PM

To all the great minds and great tastes out there: I'm presently looking for a place around Lake Mary/Longwood, Florida with atmosphere, a place where I can reserve an area (or room) for about 20-25 people for either a Saturday-late-afternoon wine/cheese event or, if only dinner hours are available, then somewhere with a good menu. My company has some collegiate administrative folks and upper-level business types into town for a presentation, so I'd like it to be distinctive -- and if it's somewhere where I can direct them to a local event -- the Lake Mary A&C Fest during the day or a gallery walk or outdoor concert at night -- so much the better! My last event-planning adventure qualified as an epic disaster: I arrived to find that the meeting room, which appeared to double as an employee flop room/condiment fill area, was not the one I'd reserved, was not set up (I did the setup myself), was stiflingly hot, and the linens were so stained they looked like a mid-60's amateur attempt at Indian batik. The buffet (which was both cold AND late), got attacked by a swarm of flies mid-presentation, and to top it off, a roach the size of a Cuban cigar danced so conspicuously and actively on the carpet in front of the keynote speaker's podium that we abandoned any thought of discreet asassination and just made him the meeting mascot. So both my confidence and reputation are on the line, here. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks so much --
Debbie Mason
