Single Islay Malt Question

ed1066 | Apr 15, 2008 07:54 PM

I recently purchased a bottle of Finlaggan Islay single malt at Trader Joe's and was wondering if anyone has any information on it. I had heard it is distilled and bottled by Lagavulin. Anyone know if this is correct? There is no age statement on the bottle, it is called "Old Reserve" (sounds like marketing) and also has the name "The Vintage Single Malt Company" (never heard of it). The flavor profile is of a young Islay, even more powerful than Laphroaig 10 yr or Bowmore Legend. It's not bad, and at $16.99 I can't complain. Any Chowhounds tried this or seen a review?
