singing the praises of smoked mackerel

Man, I just can't get enough of the stuff! I had snubbed it until quite recently: bad experience with fresh mackerel, tried kippers once and didn't like them one bit, but these.... oh dear. They're not oily like fresh mackerel is. I mean they are, obviously, from an oily fish but no sliminess at all. I broke up one into some leftover rice with chopped bell pepper, paprika and lemon and was really surprised at how good it was, considering it wasn't meant to be a proper meal at all. After that, I have yet to get the thing to stay long enough on the plate to contribute to a meal. I eat it, standing there in front of the fridge.

So, this post was mostly to share my joy about a new chowfind, but serving suggestions are most welcome. I may even use them if I can restrain myself long enough.
