Until Ginza Bairin came along, my fave spot for a tonkatsu meal in Singapore was first, Tonkichi (the main outlet at Isetan, Shaw House), and then Yokohama Romankan at the Food Hall of Takashimaya, Ngee Ann City.
But Ginza Bairin's version is *slightly* better than the two others. I was back at Ginza Bairin today - their pork tonkatsu was wonderful as always. They also added a luxe Spanish Iberian pork version, topped with a whole poached egg. Mouthwateringly delicious, even as I reminisce about the meal now as I type.
Like Tonkichi and Yokohama Romankan, Ginza Bairin is also a Singapore outpost from a well-established, pedigreed Japanese chain.
