[Singapore] Nasi Padang Lunch at Warong Nasi Pariaman

klyeoh | Jul 9, 201607:18 AM     2

Warong Nasi Pariaman is one of the most successful nasi padang spots in Singapore. It was started by Mr Isrin (like many Javanese, he only went by one name, no surname) back in 1948. Mr Isrin hailed from Pariaman, a coastal town in West Sumatera. The stall's dishes were mainly conceived by Isrin's wife, Hajah Rosnah. Since 1998, the eatery is managed by Isrin's sons, headed by eldest son, Sudirman - ensuring that the family's culinary legacy is continued.

Address:
Warong Nasi Pariaman
738 North Bridge Rd, 198706
Tel: +65 6292 5898
Opens daily 7.30am - 10.30pm.

Ikan Panggang - grilled yellowtail scad (marinated in tamarind) with dark soysauce, onions and fresh-cut red & green chillis.

Nangka masak lemak - young jackfruit in spicy, coconut-enriched sauce.

Terung sambal - grilled aubergines with sambal chilli topping.

Telur rebus balado - hard-boiled egg, with sambal topping.

Beef Rendang

Very aromatic version here, with strong cumin-coriander accents. This is Warong Nasi Pariaman's best-known dish, and perhaps the one that helped it become the oldest continuously-operating Nasi Padang eatery in Singapore.
