I had some time today and was in the area, so I took the ChowCruiser for a cruise down Foothill Blvd. looking for likely chow spots.
I spotted Simpson's Bar-Be-Cue & Seafood (5250 Foothill) and popped in to scoped out the place and grab a paper menu. Typical BBQ joint offerings, including "homemade" beef links, and a variety of sides; fried fish and shellfish. Also a selection of daily dinner specials: fried chicken, "special ox tails,""smothered steak," short ribs, pork chops, etc. Banana Pudding (I saw a box of Nilla wafers in the kitchen) and peach cobbler for dessert. They're open 7 am to 9 pm everyday, so I'm guessing the regular menu has some equally Southern breakfast offerings.
Anyone ever tried this place? The woman running the place said she'd been open for four years.
