Our first seafood meal was at our family favoirte Mo's in Cannon Beach. I know there is a lot of controversy about this place but we really like it for a fast, casual meal and the views of Haystack Rock from the dining room are gorgeous.
I always order the blackened salmon that comes with a shrimp salad and a side of fries or garlic mashers. I actually sensed an improvement over the last time I had the salmon in the summer. The fillet was moist, perfectly seasoned and very good with a side of good tartar sauce. We also ordered the family-sized clam chowder that I found to be very good. Also, improved from our last visit. We always enjoy our time here.
The Silver Salmon Grill in Astoria, OR--another one of our favorites. Many selections of salmon and a very extensive PNW wine list. I like the Henry Estate Pinot Gris here with the salmon that comes with a very fresh, green salad, warm bread and a side of steamed veggies and a nice portion of mashers. The Silver Salmon Grille is always full, even during the week. And their creme brulle is smooth and silky and one of the best I've had in a long time. Service is always excellent. We always have at least one meal here when in the area. Clam chowder is also excellent here.
The Ship Inn-Astoria, OR Another one of our favorites. Gosh, this summer we must have dined here around a dozen times. I like the fish and chips. Large pieces of halibut with a beer-batter coating that is very good. We haven't found a better place for fish and chips. Schooner's Bistro in Monterey is a close second. Very gorgeous views of the Columbia River here and the Astoria-Megler bridge.
In the summer, the trolley also runs by the restaurant which is fun to watch. The Ship Inn for the best fish and chips on the Oregon Coast. They have a very nice Columbia Crest Riesling that I like here. Bon appetit! ***kim***
