We're having 10 adults and 6 children 7-years-old and under together for a simple lunch to celebrate our son's 2nd birthday. Family driving in from West LA and Thousand Oaks, Encino feels like a good mid-point for all, but just about anywhere within a couple miles of the 101, and between the 405 and Simi Valley, would be fine. (note, I grew up in Canoga Park but have lived in Berkeley/San Francisco/Oakland since 1984).
Much as we like good interesting ethnic food, best way to satisfy entire family is with something middle-of-the-road. Someplace like Chevy's would be perfectly acceptable, we're hoping to do better. Is Jerry's Famous Deli or Solley's still any good? Looks like they're both part of the same mega-chain now, not a good sign.
The party is Dec. 26, so we'd like to stay away from the malls to avoid traffic.
