SIMPLE THINGS DONE WELL

You know the saying, do something well and no one will ever know, but do something wrong and the world will know.. Well, every once in a while you come across a place where often, to your surprise, will serve you something which exceeds your expectations, or is perfectly prepared. Thinking of your experiences dining in Montreal can you think of an experience which was unexpected and just wowed you?

if I were to think of one such experience, I would cite the Penne all'Arrabbiata at the Pane e Vino on Beaver Hall Hill. in most preparations, Penne all'Arrabbiata has to be one of the most mundane dishes ever served. Often this poor dish is an after thought, and is comprised of a base tomato sauce with a few chills thrown in and then tossed with the penne, and served drowning in sauce. Not the ones I had at Pane e Vino last week, someone in the kitchen actually gave these penne the loving they deserved, and served a spot on perfect plate of Penne all'Arrabbiata. A light coating of a tasty nicely spiced sauce evenly coating perfectly cooked penne. So good it did not even need cheese.

Perhaps Penne all'Arrabbiata may be a very simple dish, but when prepare perfectly it is sublime.
