Simmering Sour Cream (Have you tried this method?)

In the magazine The Best of Fine Cooking--Comfort Food, they mention that if you add flour to sour cream you can boil a sauce without the risk of curdling.

Has anyone tried this? If so, how did it work for you?

{P.S. Ratio--1 T flour: 1/2 c. sour cream.}
