Tried Simbal last night. It's very good, especially considering that it juuuust opened.
Location is interesting and it of the way.
Design is industrial zen craft etsy.
Staff is very accommodating.
And the important part - the food is very good.
Mussels with donut/beignet - standout.
Shrimp toast special - spicy and great.
Tofu w tuna - delicious and refreshing.
Various rolls off the chefs special cart...pretty good.
Fermented tofu duck - a little rare for my taste.
Heavenly beef - great.
Spicy rice - very good companion to the beef.
Pork belly cubes with soft boiled egg - pretty good.
I'll definitely be back - and I'll check whether they've secured beer/wine license (somehow they were serving shochu cocktails, but not beer/wine), and consider bringing my own.
