Had one of those"dining adventures" last night! We went to the Simba Grill for dinner. It's a very small(6 tables)restaurant at 375 Donlands Ave., just below Oconnor. It was written up in the Star last week.
It was great!! We started with Mogo(cassava, think french fries, but with tamarind dip)then daal bhajia (lentil dumplings)They were just making fresh samosas.
On Wednesdays, it's toonie day(don't ask!), so some of the appetizers are 2.00. For our mains we had beef ribs with salad and naan. The ribs were uniquely flavored, the salad was cooling but not much else. The other dish was Ugali, corn meal mush, like polenta, and chicken in a coconut curry. They have interesting drinks, like a sparkling lychee, or a herb and berry one. They were very friendly and helpful and we are definitely going back again, soon I hope. The food is East African-Indian origin, Tanzania and thereabout. All in all, a very enjoyable experience!!
