So, I've recently bought Sambonet silverplated flatware, the Baguette series. Very nice! It is not pure silver, but stainless steel that has been silverplated.
Sambonet says the cutlery is dishwasher safe, but after one wash I am now seeing a pinkish shine on my knife. What strikes me is the clear straight distinction between where it is pink and where it is still normal silver-coloured.
This set came as a replacement of a faulty set, where the shop said a production error caused the flatware to turn (even more) pinkish and even black at some points.
I wasn't expecting needing to use silver polish, but I will buy some from amazon and see if the pink can be easily removed. I've also read that if I put silverplated cutlery in the dishwasher, it should not touch normal stainless steel because of the materials reacting with each other. This happened during the wash.
This is my first silver plated flatware set, and I'm just curious if other people here have any experience using this and perhaps any maintenance care tips?
