I am really ambivalent about the closing of this venerable Asheville institution. I'm both sad to see another home-grown mom-and-pop place go and excited by what I've heard the new owners have planned (house-made sausage, farm-to-table produce, a performance space, etc.) Hopefully, they will be able to strike a balance between their more upscale cuisine and the space's scruffy, working class roots. (They could make a good faith start by retaining at least some of the current restaurant's staff.)
