"SIKA DEER" - Food still good and enjoyable but detected a slight slip in quality... Chef's day off on a Monday?!

Charles Yu | Jun 6, 201704:36 PM     1

Together with my 'kids', I took my out-of-town friend for some Shanghainese fare. Its been a while since my last visit. Overall, the food was still delectable but there were a few dishes that weren't up to their previous glory. Casing point was the slightly limp and over-starchy Sauteed Bamboo Shoots and the slightly watery sauced sauteed beef tripe. However, the XLB, Double cooked spicy pork and the Aromatic Crispy Duck were still top notch....by GTA standard.
Lastly, for some unknown but most welcome reason, quantity of the peanut/sesame sauce for the Spicy Dan Dan Noodles was overly excessive and smothered the noodles. So much so, there was enough sauce left to take home for use in making a fresh bowl of Dan Dan 'Soba' for my upcoming lunch/dinner tomorrow! Cool!
