Sierra House in Shaver Lake

Wow! Was I ever impressed with this place. We had a wonderful Mother's Day dinner here. Ambiance is elegant, with sterling silver and red roses in purple glass vases, deep purple linen napkins and small candles in purple candle holders at each table. Very beautiful, with a nice fire going since it was starting to cool off.

We shared the spinach salad which was wonderful, an entree on the menu but plenty to be shared. We split the pistachio-encrusted chicken which was served with a light lemon beurre blanc sauce and some of the best garlic mashers I have ever had. It's not cheap here, but I know they recently got a new chef and he is excellent. They also now do winemaker dinners a few times a year. I enjoyed a glass of Sauvignon Blanc from Meridian.

We found a new gem in the Sierra Nevada mountains. Dessert was passed up, as we enjoyed some very good homemade strawberry pizza back at home.

What a relaxing dinner after a day at the lake and cooking brunch earlier that am for 16 family members! A big thumbs up to the Sierra HOuse in beautiful Shaver Lake, CA!! ***kim***
