Sides from Honeybaked Ham

Melanie Wong | Dec 23, 2009 07:35 PM

Yesterday I picked up the Honeybaked ham my mother requested, using the $10 off online coupon. The staff were offering tastes of the side dishes. I had a chance to try creamed spinach, baked beans, and mashed potatoes with gravy. The creamed spinach had more creamy white sauce than green leaves but didn't taste bad although there was a bitter aftertaste. The baked beans were candy sweet and smoky with bits of meat and too mushy with more than half the beans broken. The mashed potatoes were chunky style with good depth of potato flavor but that gravy was like a salt lick. All three side dishes were very salty, too much so to serve next to ham.
