Sic Transit Peija Wu, aka Betelnut [San Francisco]

Been eating at Betelnut off and on since it opened; it's close to home.

The other night it was close to a total disaster: Waiters used to proclaim proudly the kitchen used organic products, especially produce; this time, the waiter looked at me as though I were an alien when I inquired.

What we did order was extremely "undrained,"i.e., greasy.

I can't believe this is the same place that, not too long back, used to offer a weekly suckling pig with organic greens and something I'm forgetting for a truly reasonable price, till it ran out!

Oh, and for those who share my sustainability concerns, the menu now offers Atlantic salmon.
