Shrimp & Grits Secret Sauce: ISO Chowhound Culinary Sleuths

Tehama | Jan 9, 201106:33 AM     4

Last night my girlfriends and I had dinner at The Mint in Raleigh, NC. For the first course I had shrimp and grits (an all-time favorite) and it had the most AMAZING sauce on it - one I have never had with any shrimp and grits dish in my life.

The waiter asked the chef for me what was in it, and reported back it was: reduced soy sauce, bourbon, honey, and sugar.

I've been googling around this morning and don't see any sauces like that where I could get the proportions, etc. so I can make it myself.

Q # 1 - does anyone know what this sauce is? (if indeed there is a formal name for it)
Q # 2 - does anyone have a recipe?
Q # 3 - what else can I put this delectable sauce on?

Thanks, guys! You're the best!
