Short Review Food Trucks on Tuesdays La Mesa

Forgive me if this has already been posted, but last week my family and I tried the food truck offerings on Tuesdays in the Best Buy parking lot, corner of Fletcher Pky and Jackson. We sampled food from "God Save the Cuisine"," ManjaManja Mobile", "Calbi"' and "Crepe Bonaparte" we did not try the burgers from "Stuffed".

The atmosphere was relaxed and festive, and the menus had something for everyone in my party. The service was fast and cheerful, although most of the trucks were not ready at the posted start time of 5.

The beef tacos from Calbi were a fusion offering. The beef was spicy and sweet. The offering from God Save the Cuisine was the spicy lamb on pita bread with a mint sauce, nice. The manjaManja offerings were portobello ravioli in a Gorgonzola cream sauce-very nice! 2 different lasagnas-Bolongnese and asparagus and provolone-lots of pasta layers, very nice taste! We also ordered the garlic pesto fries which were good and decadent, and the portobello sandwich (portobello cap on a bun with arugula, pesto, and mozzarella) and the pizza burger(marinara sauce, cheese, pepperoni). Finally, my kids ordered two dessert crepes from the Bonaparte truck-Banana and chocolate(?) and caramel apple. Crepes were large and well presented with Chantilly. Fillings were ok, especially the sliced apples cooked with cinnamon. The caramel seemed too sweet, and there was an argument if the chocolate was listed on the Menu as Nutella. It was not Nutella.

Families brought their kids, and some were more prepared than us as they had brought their chairs. I am now in search of a cheap folding table so we can return and stay instead of getting the food to go. I overheard that the trucks are not always the same, so we plan on going back soon!
