Short Grain Rice Mush in Rice Cooker

KyJy88 | Nov 5, 2013 11:30 AM

Wondering if someone can help. I don't know if it is me or my rice cooker but I keep getting mushy rice.
I wash several times (about 4-5 times) till water is clear(ish), drain for at least 30min, then soak in water for at least 30min and turn on the cooker.

This is the proper procedure correct?

The amount of water is specified on the rice cooker bowl.
Two things: the only time on the cooker is 50min, this I cannot change, is this too long? and it boilers over, i have to clean sticky water from the vent.

What is wrong???

All advice is greatly appreciated. Thank You
