The wife and I are off to New Orleans this Thursday. We have all of our dinners and most of our lunches picked out and reserved from the usual suspects, Clancy's, Brigtsen's, Mother's, Galatoire's, etc.
What we're looking for now is some nice shortish daytrips (something to do between meals). We want scenic drives, views of water, and places with good local seafood that we can snack on along the way.
We don't want to drive more than an hour and a half one way, so the real Cajun country around Lafayette is out and the river plantations are a been-there-done-that-didn't-find-anything-good-to-eat.
Empire is under consideration so if anyone has the 411 on this town 'twould be appreciated. Ditto for Lafitte, Shell Beach, Delacroix, Pointe A La Hache, Des Allemands, Barataria, Venetian Isles, Greens Ditch, etc.
Thanks in Advance!
