Shopping for kitchen stuff

Honest to goodness, I promise I'm not shilling, but I absolutely have to tell you about this great store I went to on Friday night. It's called Chef Central and it's at 240 Rte. 17 North in Paramus, NJ. They carry nearly everything you could possibly think of for kitchen use and the sales people were very friendly (maybe because my husband and I had several hundred dollars' worth of items in our shopping cart?) and knowledgeable. They do cookbook signings, cooking demonstrations (and, I think, tastings) there, too.

I'd say the prices were definitely competitive and the sales tax is lower in NJ than in NYC, which makes it more appealing than, say, Broadway Panhandler. And the $4 bridge toll wasn't an extra charge to be considered, since we go to the country every weekend and would be paying it anyway.

I bought my first All Clad pots there on Friday and, after preparing a dinner party on Saturday, I think I will slowly replace all my old pots and pans with it. I guess you get what you pay for!

Anyway, if anybody has any other great sources in the area, I'd love to know about them. The only problem with taking cooking classes is that you grow dissatisfied with everything you already own. I guess it's true -- a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing. Especially when you have two kitchens to supply!
