Had dinner at Shima Sushi on Abbott Kinney on Sat nite. It's billed as "exclusive brown rice sushi" which actually almost kept my party away. The nontraditional design of the place has had me interested for weeks, so we took the plunge.

Really inventive, healthy-seeming, innovative dishes. High quality ingredients. Charming if slightly unpolished waitstaff/bussers.

Fresh grated wasabi. Housemade organic tofu. Red miso soup. The best pair of hama hama oysters I've ever had - and for only $5. That's $30/dozen for those who are counting, but in sushi-land, that's a great deal for a great order of sushi.

Honestly, I got through dinner without really noticing that I was eating "exclusive brown rice." Definitely go. It's good. Total tab (including two large cervezas) less than $130 for 3 people.
