So my usual sushi standby was closed tonight (Mizu) and I didn't know where to order. I'd seen a couple of posts about Sharuku on 3rd Ave on the board in the past and decided to try it.
I ordered three rolls, soup, and a cold appetizer at 8:30PM. At 9:25, I still did not have my food delivered yet. I called the restaurant and after 10 minutes of me trying to determine where my food was, the manager informed me that the delivery man could not find my building (ironic b/c every other delivery man in Manhattan has no problems finding it).
So the manager offered to redo the order and bring it over himself...
8 minutes later the doorbell rings and the manager is on my doorstep OUT OF BREATH SINCE HE SPRINTED OVER! He apologizes numerous times and hands me my order. My total came to $26 and when I handed him that plus tip he bowed and refused. He told me to give him $5 to pay the delivery man and that we had his sincerest apologies.
When I opened the order, he had not only had the rolls fresh, but they were bursting with lots of tuna, eel, and softshell crab. Additionally, they provided me with a big container of sashimi to make up for my wait.
In a city that sometimes has bad service, occassionally has good service, and often has mediocre service, it's wonderful to find a restaurant that cares about your business and makes such an effort.
The food was fantastic, the prices more than reasonable, and the service unprecedented. I would strongly recommend Sharuku to anyone in the neighborhood!
