If the closure of Good One in Alhambra after fewer than 60 days of operation was stunning, equally surprising is the speed with which the replacement restaurant, Shanghai Village, opened up. Shanghai Village has a diverse menu of about 150 Shanghai style items. Their specialty may be "Duck York" as I counted at least eight "duck york" dishes on the menu. (See my separate post on Saporous Grill.) I had the interestingly conceived fish fillet with vanilla sauce, which had me guessing (sweet sauce? wine sauce? white sauce?) until it was delivered (deep fried with plenty of vanilla leaves). Shanghai Village is at 1281 E. Valley Blvd. in Alhambra.
