That was my fortune for today. It could be interpreted in more than one way.
This afternoon my tongue lead me to a bowl of shredded pork and pickled vegetable noodle soup, aka #40, which was very good. The broth was on the weak side, but I suppose in this style of cooking the very savory toppings are meant to compensate. A goodly amount of both julienned pork and spicy pickled Chinese turnip in a dark gravy was nestled on top of al dente egg noodles. They were out of the green onion pancake and Shanghai sesame bread.
The hostess/paw paw suggested the XLB, but I was in the mood for noodles. I wonder if that rec is de rigueur for the American trade, ABC or not.
