I drove over to get some szechuan fish at New Shanghai and it was gone!!!!! The new restaurant is Jamillah Garden which is a Chinese Islamic Restaurant which I had never heard of this combination before. I sat in the corner and the entire room was filled with Islamic families eating heartily in full garb.
I asked the owner what to order since I never ate at a place like this before. He recommended the Lamb with Leek dish. The dinner or lunch comes with a complimentary spring roll, fresh tea, and egg flower soup with corn. All rather ordinary nothing special.
The lamb was served with rice on the side and there were a mixture of lean lamb pieces as well as very gristled and fatty pieces in there too. The good pieces had a subtle flavor but there was a little too much oil residue on the bottom of the plate. Overall the non fatty pieces were actually pretty good and I will give them another chance.
The owner came by and asked how I enjoyed the dinner. I told him I was disappointed that the lamb was tough and also gristled and fatty. he said that was the corn starch!!! I told him I know the difference between corn starch and fat certainly and did not really enjoy the dish fully.
Service was not the quickest as was expected with all of the big families in there.
They have only been open two weeks so I am going to give them a little slack.
I will go again and venture with some new foodstuffs next time.
This is apparently the same ownership as the one in Tustin. Here is the link.
