Shanghai Gate is closed on Tuesdays so we decided to try Shanghai Jade in the old Zenna Noodle space on Beacon Street. Very good quality dumplings and noodles in a very pleasant space. The menu is a bit all over the place: we'll go back to try their rice cakes and they do seem to retread the old American Chinese dishes but it also has some intriguing dishes that appear more regional and traditional. The dumpling skins on our pork buns were tender and skillful and the boiled leek and pork dumplings were similarly delicate. The cold sesame noodles were excellent as were the eggplant and cauliflower and the fried Singapore noodles. They told us they do dim sum on the weekends and we'll return to see how that goes. Always nice to find good noodles in the neighborhood.
