wanted nacatamales and had Entertainment book SF coupon went to:
Nicaragua Restaurant, 3015 Mission St (near 26th), SF
day we went they didn't have nacatamales even though it's on their menu. biggest disappointment ever.
B. got under Nicaragua specialty a yucca and pork dish. comes with beans and coleslaw. Pork he said was not bad, juicy, big chunks of it. Yucca-over broiled, could have been better. I got cheese enchiladas. It comes out like 2 tacos deepfried tortillas, cheese-looks likes they put eggs or something to make it fluffy. Comes w/ beans, rice and coleslaw. Not recommended.
Cash only places, waitress only spoke Spanish.

Dianda bakery for some pinenut/pignoli cookies
delicious 3 cookies for $1.90

nacatamales, from a chowhound tip, at the produce stand between 24 and 25th on Mission St, near the Mission Cultural Center $2.50 each. Asked the cashier and she called on the intercom, a guy brought them down. Good-huge thing with potatoes, olives (w/ pit-be careful), bit sourer, pork.
