Had a very tasty dim sum brunch yesterday at M Shanghai Bistro, Havemeyer & Grand (it's only available on Sunday's). We weren't starving, and there were only 2 of us, so we just had 3 things: steamed juicy pork bun really delicious; spicy wontons a little too peanut-y but with soy sauce added was very well balanced; and steamed red bean paste bun also good with some soy to balance the sweet with salt. They were out of the sweet & sour cucumber salad. You get a free drink with 3 or more dim sum -- bloody mary, mimosa, beer etc and the individual dishes were in the $3-5 range, I think this is a good value, and I think the food there is good. It wasn't crowded at all, but the bartender told us that last weekend was jammed go figure. The link below has the regular menu, not the dim sum menu, but many of the items are the same.
Also stopped by a new coffee place, Oslo, at 133 Roebling. VERY good coffee a macchiato that made my husband, the coffee-maven, very happy. I had a hot chocolate which was creamy and delicious. This is in that funny new building on the corner with all the wrought-iron door and window treatments kind of odd.
