Shalala Japanese Ramen in San Francisco Japantown

Melanie Wong | May 13, 201403:16 PM     8

My brother spotted the sign for Shalala today in the now closed Sushi Aka Tombo in Japantown. A quick check of the pending ABC license shows President Heita Ueshima and Nobuyori Iwahashi as a stockholder. They are the principals at Mountain View's Ramen Shalala. Nobu Iwahashi is the executive chef.

The "help wanted" poster says it is opening May 26. Could this be the end of San Francisco's ramen drought? Yamadaya has been a disappointment. Hopefully Shalala will translate well to the City.
